VILNIUS - The parliamentary speakers of the eight Nordic and Baltic countries (NB8) are holding a video-conference meeting on Thursday to discuss the coronavirus situation.
The speakers plan to share their countries' experience in containing the spread of the COVID-19 virus and exchange views on further perspectives, Karolina Froloviene, an advisor to Viktoras Pranckietis, the speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania, told BNS.
"It is planned to discuss the measures the states are taking to combat the spread of the virus," she said.
The leaders of the Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Danish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish parliaments will also discuss the agenda of a world conference of parliamentary speakers scheduled for August.
The NB8 meeting, originally scheduled for May 19, was moved into the virtual realm due to coronavirus-related risks.
