RIGA - On Friday morning, around 10,000 clients of Sadales Tikls power grid operator were without electricity after a stormy night, the company's spokeswoman Tatjana Smirnova told LETA.
She said that the storm that raged in Latvia last night caused more than 460 disruptions in power grids. At around 2:30 a.m., the peak of the storm, power supply was shortly disrupted to 38,000 clients.
Sadales Tikls quickly restored most of the disrupted connections and by 7:00 a.m. the number of homes without power was reduced to around 10,000. Sadales Tikls is working to restore power supply to all its clients as soon as possible, the representative said.
The overnight storm has caused the most severe damage in northern and eastern Latvia where the strong wind broke trees and three branches that fell on power lines, damaging the cables and poles.
