RIGA - Any resignation is wasted time, one of the founder of the United List Uldis Pilens told TV3 this morning, commenting of the resignation of Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity).

Speaking about Karins' resignation, Pilens said that any resignation is a new field, new opportunities, but at the same time it is also lost time.

He emphasized that Karins was the head of the government for a long time, but during this time Latvia has started lagging behind other countries. At the same time, Pilens does not blame Karins - he said he did the best he could, taking into account his "personality structure".

Answering the questions about who should be trusted with the formation of the new government, Pilens emphasized that one should not interfere in the issues of the president's responsibility.

"We are ready to cooperate with any candidate nominated by the president," said Pilens, saying that a government that moves "Latvia out of backwardness" is needed.

As reported, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins announced on Monday that he will resign as prime minister and will not stand for the post again.
