Another father gets life sentence for raping his underage daughter

RIGA - Zemgale Regional Court at the beginning of April handed down a life sentence to a 43-year-old -man for sexual abuse and rape of his underage daughter, LETA was told at the prosecutor's office.

This is already the second case in April in which a father gets the harshest sentence. LETA already reported that on April 5, Latgale District Court sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment for sexually abusing his underage daughter and raping her.

On April 9, Zemgale Regional Court heard the 43-year-old man's appeal and found that the defendant should be sentenced to the harshest punishment - life imprisonment - for the systematic sexual abuse and rape of his underage daughter.

The man had been secretly committing the crimes against his child from 2016 to 2018 when he lived with the family and continued to sexually assault her from 2018 to 2020 when he was living separately. 

From 2021 to 2022 the defendant was imprisoned for some other criminal offense.
