Annual Riga Conference to take place in mid-October

RIGA - The annual international security and foreign policy forum Riga Conference will this year take place in a hybrid format from October 15 to 16, Renate Grudule, a representative of the Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO), informed LETA. 

She said that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is expected to address the Riga Conference 2021 and that participants of panel discussions will include Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis. The conference will be broadcast live on the website rigaconference.lv and other platforms. 

Grudule indicated that since 2006, the Riga Conference has become of the most security and foreign policy forums in the Baltic Sea region. The conference provides the opportunity for participants to discuss current trends and global processes.

This year, the main topics on the conference's agenda include the NATO 2030 agenda, Europe's Green Deal, regional and global security, data security, etc. 

The conference's hybrid format is adjusted to government regulations on epidemiological safety measures required to prevent the spread of Covid-19, which means that only persons with interoperable EU Digital Certificates allowed to attend the conference's events that will be held at the National Library of Latvia. 

The general public will be able to watch the conference live on the conference's website, LATO's Facebook and YouTube pages and several other online platforms.

The Riga Conference is organized jointly by the Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO), the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Latvia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia.
