The chairman of the board of the aviation company group Avia Solutions Group, Gediminas Žiemelis, received a special invitation to attend the inauguration ceremony of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, held on Monday in Washington, D.C.

“It is a great honor for me to be invited to this historic event,” said Gediminas Žiemelis. “This is not only a personal recognition but also an acknowledgment of Avia Solutions Group as a world-class company. This invitation symbolizes our company’s success in strengthening ties with the U.S. and demonstrates that Lithuanian business can hold a significant place in the global context.”

The aviation group has been collaborating with U.S. partners for several years. In September 2021, the American investment firm Certares Management, specializing in the travel, tourism, and hospitality sectors, along with Knighthead Capital Management, invested €300 million in Avia Solutions Group.

In March 2024, the aviation group appointed Impact Investments—a U.S. firm specializing in strategic and financial consulting and investments—as its strategic development advisor. The firm’s chairman is Mike Pompeo, former U.S. Secretary of State.

Recently, Avia Solutions Group announced that it had placed an order with the manufacturer for 80 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. This marks the first time in aviation history that an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) company has ordered such a large number of aircraft directly from the manufacturer.

U.S. presidential inaugurations typically take place on the steps of the Capitol in Washington, D.C. However, this year, due to unusually cold weather, Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, initially planned outdoors with 250,000 attendees, was moved to the Capitol Rotunda, where about 700 invited guests gathered.
