Riga Vice Mayor Andris Ameriks (Honor to Serve Riga, GKR) has decided to resign. Ameriks announced his decision to journalists on December 17.
After resigning as Riga vice mayor, Ameriks will still remain a member of the Riga City Council.
Ameriks has been holding the office of Riga vice mayor since 2010.
Ameriks said he had been working in the city council for the past 18 years. “I have been working in good conscience, which is proven by voters’ loyalty throughout these years,” Ameriks said.
