The American International School of Vilnius (AISV) has failed to get a permit from Lithuania's authorities for its planned expansion for a year now.
The fee-paying school, which is attended by the children of foreign diplomats and business people, last year applied to the capital's local authority for a permit to add a mansard story to its building in Subaciaus Street, in the Old Town of Vilnius. However, the building permit cannot be issued until the Culture Ministry adopts a decision on amending the regulation on the protection of the Old Town.
