Amendment on running for parliament 10 years after impeachment registered

A new constitutional amendment on the country's impeached and removed President Rolandas Paksas' possibility to run for parliament was registered in the Seimas of Lithuania on Thursday, September 19. The proposed amendment paves the way for a person impeached and removed from office to stand for election no sooner than ten years after impeachment. But such a person would not be able to run for president and would not assume any other officer defined in the Constitution and requiring giving a constitutional oath.
