Aigars Kesenfelds’ family investment company, ALPPES Capital, has increased its stake in DelfinGroup to 29.79%, according to a DelfinGroup announcement on the Nasdaq Riga stock exchange. ALPPES Capital increased its shareholding in DelfinGroup by consolidating shares owned by members of Aigars Kesenfelds’ family and their companies into ALPPES Capital.
ALPPES Capital increased its stake in DelfinGroup in order to participate in the voluntary share buyback that INDEXO plans to offer to DelfinGroup shareholders. The management of ALPPES Capital stated that it intends to convert all DelfinGroup shares owned by the company into INDEXO shares, with the goal of increasing its participation in the INDEXO group. Currently, ALPPES Capital owns 14.46% of INDEXO group shares. The investment company believes that the share exchange will provide the greatest long-term capital growth for both INDEXO shareholders and all existing DelfinGroup shareholders.
ALPPES Capital notes that its shares in the INDEXO group are a long-term financial investment. ALPPES Capital is committed not to sell its INDEXO group shares at least until 2030, thereby participating in the development of the INDEXO group and the expected long-term growth of the company’s value.
The investment company notes that all the necessary preconditions have been established for INDEXO, in the medium term, to successfully compete with subsidiaries of foreign banks in Latvia and with other foreign-owned banks, following the examples of Lithuania and Estonia, where local entrepreneurs and many thousands of local investors have, in a short period of time, jointly invested the required capital, laying the foundation for the creation and development of a strong, profitable, and competitive locally-owned bank. In Estonia, such examples include LHV, a strong and highly profitable locally-owned digital bank, and COOP Bank, another locally-owned bank with a particularly strong presence in Estonia’s regions. In Lithuania, a good example of a locally-owned bank is Artea Bank (formerly Šiaulių Bankas).
ALPPES Capital also plans to continue participating in future INDEXO capital-raising rounds with the goal of ensuring that INDEXO’s capital and profitability reach an optimal and sustainable level. This would enable the company to successfully develop and expand its existing services, as well as create and launch new ones.
As reported previously, the Bank of Latvia has granted permission for ALPPES Capital to acquire a direct qualifying holding and for Aigars Kesenfelds to acquire an indirect qualifying holding in IPAS INDEXO. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank approved Aigars Kesenfelds and ALPPES Capital to acquire an indirect qualifying holding in INDEXO Bank.
