RIGA - All businesses that have been experiencing a drop in turnover due to the coronavirus might qualify for downtime benefits regardless of the sector in which they are operating, according to draft regulations on which the government is expected to decide at a joint meeting with the Crisis Management Council.
The Economics Ministry estimates that employers might claim the downtime benefits for 45,000 employees, which would require EUR 20.3 million in the government budget.
