ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park: Open call to Investors

  • 2025-11-21

Officially opened last fall, the ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park has already become one of the most prominent symbols of Kaunas' ambitious future. Having attracted its first investors, the park is taking the next step: investors have been given the green light and are invited to submit applications to establish themselves on land plots in the open field with prepared above-ground and underground infrastructure.

Why ALEX?

"Many have been waiting for this moment. We have received numerous inquiries, businesses have been interested in the conditions, so now we can clearly say – it's time to act. Anyone who is interested and meets the criteria for the planned activities in the park area has the opportunity to join the emerging innovation community.

In our vision, ALEX is not just another closed business district, but a living organism – a place where ideas meet technology, where cooperation between science and business bears real fruit. At the planning stage, we set ourselves the goal of making the territory an organic part of the vibrant Aleksotas district, complementing rather than detracting from the urban context. We have established architectural guidelines that will help maintain urban integrity," says Tadas Stankevičius, CEO of Kaunas IN.

ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park is located in a strategic location – close to the city centre, on the site of the former Aviation Factory, between Europos Avenue and Lakūnų Main Road. This spring, the detailed plan was approved and the land plot formation procedures were finalised.

The entire necessary infrastructure has been installed on an area of more than 30 hectares: a network of streets, pedestrian and bicycle paths, lighting, electricity, water, and sewage connections to each land plot, as well as the possibility of using central heating. Gas can be supplied as needed.

"Today, the ALEX Innovation Industrial Park has become one of the most important steps for Kaunas and all of Lithuania towards a high value-added economy. The idea has become a reality – the project has been granted the status of an object of national economic importance, the first investments have been received, and in October, Lithuanian industrialists presented Kaunas with the Auksinė Krivūlė award.

This is just the beginning. We will continue to strive to ensure that ALEX Park grows, attracts even more innovative companies and talent, and becomes one of the main innovation centres in the Baltic region. We have everything we need to achieve this: modern infrastructure, convenient transport links, close ties with the academic community, and a strong talent base capable of creating global innovations," said Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis.

The park welcomes investments from high value-added companies in the life sciences, engineering, as well as information and communications technology sectors. It also welcomes companies engaged in research, experimental development, and innovation (R&D&I). Branches of scientific institutions and research laboratories are planned to be built here, which will create a unique synergy between science and business.

Land plots for various needs

The park has 16 land plots, 12 of which are designated for innovative businesses. The remaining areas are occupied by the Innovation Hangar and plots designated for accompanying functions: a planned kindergarten, commercial buildings (offices, catering establishments), and a future multi-storey car park with 800 spaces.

ALEX land plots average between 1 and 4 hectares, but can be divided into smaller land plots or combined into larger areas according to the individual needs of the investor. The largest land plots are ideal for technology centres or larger companies, while smaller ones, which are up to one hectare in size, are perfect for start-ups, research laboratories, or pilot projects.

"Flexibility is key. We can offer solutions for both large and small players. We are prepared to listen to investors' needs to ensure that each project is provided with the necessary infrastructure.

Every investor is important to us, and every project provides an opportunity to grow, improve processes, and enhance services. We want to be partners who help you get started quickly, efficiently, and without unnecessary obstacles," says Stankevičius.

Today's news is an invitation to businesses looking for a place to expand, experiment, and develop ideas. Kaunas is sending a clear message: ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park is waiting for you.

All information about submitting applications, land plots available, and conditions can be found on the official website: alexinnovationpark.lt.

"Global practice shows that the prosperity of a city is inseparable from an inclusive environment, talent, and the attraction of innovative businesses. Kaunas has all the prerequisites for this synergy – international visibility, high rankings, a strong academic community, convenient infrastructure, and an active network of innovators – from operating start-ups to foreign giants. Now that ALEX Kaunas Innovation Park has been given the green light, we invite businesses to create, collaborate, and become part of change and breakthroughs," said Kaunas Deputy Mayor Andrius Palionis.
