VILNIUS – The death toll of alcohol poisoning in Lithuania's second-largest city of Kaunas has risen to 17.
Earlier, prosecutor said there were 16 victims, but one more person died last week, Aurimas Didziokas, spokesman for Kaunas Regional Prosecutor's Office, told BNS.
In his words, prosecutors are carrying out 18 pre-trial investigations into this alcohol poisoning incident. One of the suspects is among the dead.
Another suspect, a woman, 63, is in custody until August 30.
All these pre-trial investigations were launched in response to information from local medical establishments on people who were found dead in one Kaunas area last month or died shortly after being taken to hospital, having consumed home-made alcohol.
