RIGA - Over the past few days since the government announced tighter Covid-19 measures and a curfew, national airline airBaltic has observed heightened interest in traveling to other countries, LETA learned from airBaltic.

As usual, during this time of the year passengers are mostly interested in Mediterranean destinations. In the past several days, airBaltic has observed that increasingly more passengers inquire about such destinations as Athens, Barcelona, Tenerife, Dubai, Lisbon, Rome, Madrid, Larnaca.

"We expect that Latvian residents who choose to work from abroad for a shorter or longer period of time will also have a positive effect on these destinations' popularity," said Bethere.

Many residents of Latvia have been saying on social networks that they are planning to stay in some other country until the lockdown in Latvia ends on November 15.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers today is expected to approve a month-long lockdown from October 21 to November 15.

During the lockdown nearly all stores, entertainment venues and schools will be shut and services suspended.

A curfew will also be in place from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
