RIGA - Latvia's national carrier airBaltic will open a new winter season route from Riga to Marrakesh, LETA was told at the company.
This will be the airline's first long-haul destination on the African continent.
The new route will be opened with a ceremony on October 31 at Riga Airport's Boarding Gate C7.
In 2021, airBaltic carried 1.628 million passengers, which is by 21.4 percent more than during the first year of Covid-19 pandemic or 2020.
The Latvian state currently owns 97.97 percent in airBaltic, and a 2.03 percent stake in the airline belongs to Aircraft Leasing 1, a company owned by Danish businessman Lars Thuesen.
