TALLINN - The agriculture ministers of Estonia and Kosovo met in Tartu on Saturday to discuss cooperation opportunities in the agricultural sector and Estonia's experience with European Union integration.

Kosovo is particularly interested in Estonia's developments in agriculture and forestry, especially in the context of modernizing and digitizing said sectors.

Both Estonia and Kosovo aim to share more knowledge between the two countries in the future. Additionally, Kosovo seeks to learn from Estonia's experience in developing various areas within agriculture, such as organic production and food processing. Estonia also has experience to share regarding the implementation of reforms to enhance cooperation with the European Union, including in agriculture and forestry.

The discussion also touched on promoting trade between the two countries.

"Today, the import-export levels between our countries are still quite low, but this is an opportunity to improve our relations," Estonia's Regional and Agriculture Minister Piret Hartman said.

During their visit to Estonia, the Kosovar delegation, led by Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development Minister Faton Peci, along with their Estonian counterparts, also attended the 69th World Ploughing Championships, which took place this year in Rõhu Garden, Tartu County.
