To promote collaboration among Latvian producers, the largest cosmetics manufacturer in the Baltics, “H.A.Brieger,” has launched a new product development process for the "Dzintars" brand for the first time. This initiative involved working with four local companies, including “Balticovo,” which supplies various natural ingredients. As a result, three new "Dzintars" hand creams have been created using Latvian-sourced ingredients such as rapeseed oil, pea protein, organic honey, and egg white (albumin). The investment in developing the formulas and launching the products in the market is approximately 45,000 euros.
A touch of nature in three tubes
The new "Dzintars" hand creams offer an effective blend of nature and science, with formulas containing 97% natural ingredients. Functionally, they address all daily hand care needs – deep hydration, protection, and nourishment.
- The Nourishing Hand Cream "Dzintari" is suitable for those needing a soothing and caring effect. The rapeseed oil prevents skin dryness and moisture loss, while the antioxidants in honey delay skin aging. The cream has a refined, honey-warm scent.
- The Moisturizing Hand Cream "Kolka" features a light consistency and valuable egg white (albumin) proteins with hyaluronic acid to combat dryness and make the skin more elastic and smooth. The cream has a pleasant white flower scent.
- The Extra Nourishing Protective Cream "Dubulti" combats dryness and roughness. Pea protein and allantoin soften the skin and protect it from environmental damage. The cream has a unique scent of garden green plants.
Anastasija Udalova, co-owner and CEO of “H.A.Brieger,” emphasizes: “Thanks to its historic roots and current consumer love, Dzintars is more than just a legendary Latvian beauty brand. I am confident that Dzintars, with its values, can inspire people not only to a more beautiful everyday life but also to act patriotically. That’s why it was important to me that the improved hand cream formulas use as many Latvian ingredients as possible. I am truly pleased that local producers responded to our initiative. This reinforces the belief that Latvian businesses need to collaborate even more, as this strengthens both our domestic economy and our national production identity, as well as pride in local achievements”.
Latvian-sourced ingredients
All three new "Dzintars" hand creams contain barley flour sourced from the “Kaņepītes” farm (Kocēni Parish, Valmiera District). The honey, a key ingredient in the "Dzintari" cream, is supplied by the beekeeping shop SIA "Deiva" (Stopiņi District) in cooperation with local beekeepers. The pea extract used in the "Dubulti" hand cream comes from "Ekstraktu rūpnīca L.Ē.V." (Nākotne, Glūda Parish). Finally, the egg whites used in the "Kolka" cream are provided by "Balticovo."
Toms Auškāps, Communications and Development Director at A/S “Balticovo,” reveals: “For many of us, an egg is traditionally just an egg. However, thanks to its valuable composition, it’s a unique product that can be much more than just a breakfast item. A/S Balticovo, as an ambassador of eggs in Latvia, always emphasizes the versatility of eggs and has proven many times that eggs can create wonderful products, such as ice cream or egg noodles. However, the power of eggs doesn’t stop at the dining table – their use can be broader. That’s why Balticovo was delighted to join in the development of the new Dzintars hand cream. This was a challenge for us, as it’s the first time our egg products, specifically albumin, are part of a new cosmetic. However, it aligns perfectly with our philosophy of educating the public about the health benefits and versatility of eggs. We’re especially proud that the egg whites used for the hand cream come from cage-free hens, living in conditions closer to their natural environment. So, the albumin in the cream is from happier hens! We also hope that people who use the new Dzintars cream will be happier, as the egg protein, albumin, is rich in amino acids that promote cell regeneration, helping retain moisture and prevent dryness.”
Availability in stores
The improved "Dzintars" hand creams are already available on the “Dzintars” online store at www.dzintars.lv, as well as in Douglas stores. Soon, they will also be available at Drogas and Maxima.
About “H.A.Brieger”
The origins of the “Dzintars” cosmetics manufacturing trace back to 1849 when Heinrich Adolf Brieger founded a soap and perfumery factory in Riga, which over three generations grew to be among Latvia’s largest cosmetics manufacturers. The new owners purchased the factory with the aim of returning to Brieger’s approach - slowly, deliberately, and carefully creating products for our dynamic world. Hence, the company and factory’s name was changed to the historical “H.A.Brieger,” while retaining the “Dzintars” brand for cosmetics products. The largest shareholder of the cosmetics manufacturer “H.A.Brieger” is the Estonian industrial manufacturing company “Skinest Group,” operating in ten countries with over 1,400 employees. “Skinest Group” owns 67% of “H.A.Brieger,” while 33% is owned by the company’s manager, Anastasija Udalova. “H.A.Brieger” has received ISO 9001 quality management and GMP or ISO 22716 good manufacturing practices certificates.
