RIGA - 8,449 persons were vaccinated against Covid-19 on Tuesday, according to the National Health Service.

This data can still change as many vaccination institutions report their vaccination data with some delay.

The rate of vaccination has been rising for a month. In the week of September 6, a total of 32,753 people were vaccinated in the country, while in each subsequent week the total number of vaccinated persons has increased - a total of 34,391 doses were administered between September 13 and 19, and in the week of September 20 - 41,537 doses. From September 27 to October 3, 43,958 people were vaccinated, while a total of at least 48,310 people were vaccinated last week.

As the number of vaccinated per week increases, the average number of people vaccinated per day has increased accordingly. In the last month, the highest number of people vaccinated in one day was recorded last Friday, when the government decided late in the evening on new restrictions for the largely unvaccinated part of the society. Almost 10,000 people were vaccinated that day.

So far, 48.03 percent of Latvian residents have completed the immunization process.

Meanwhile, 54.69 percent of Latvian residents above the age of 12 have completed the vaccination process.
