RIGA - Around 450 homes in Jekabpils Region have been damaged by recent floods, Jekabpils Region Council said on Friday.
There is currently a public debate on one-time benefits for repairs of flood-damaged homes, as Jekabpils Region Council's representative Aiga Sleze told LETA.
Residents' proposals will be accepted until February 15, after which the municipality will vote on the benefits.
According to Jekabpils Region Council's draft regulation, one-time benefits for repairs of the flood-damaged homes will range from EUR 500 to EUR 2,000, depending on the scope of damage. For insured homes, the amount of the benefit will reduced by 50%.
This year, Jekabpilis Region Council is planning to pay a total of EUR 100,000 in benefits.
As reported, residents of Jekabpils Region who have been affected by recent floods can also apply to the social service for a one-time benefit of up to EUR 1,240.
