RIGA - This year, 166 teachers received administrative punishment for not knowing the Latvian language, LETA learned from Madara Reke, a representative of the State Language Center (VVC).
In total, VVC this year inspected Latvian language skills of 982 teachers and 31 teachers of vocational education.
The number of violations is not high - 10 percent on average, while in some preschools of Riga suburbs this share is as high as 30 percent.
