14 large vaccination sites to open at Riga sports, cultural and educational venues

RIGA - Fourteen large vaccination sites for Covid-19 will open at sports, cultural and educational venues in Riga, the Vaccination Bureau's coordinator Edgars Labsvris said at the government meeting today.

Two largest vaccination sites will open at the National Sports Center at 160 Maskavas Street, with 1,800 square meters in area, and at Riga State German Grammar School, 1,200 square meters in area.

Smaller vaccination centers be located at Riga High School No. 49, VEF Culture Center, High School No. 19, High School No 89, Pushkin High School, High School No. 31, High School No. 88, Zolitude Grammar School, Classical Grammar School, Ilguciems High School, and High School No. 47.

The two larger vaccination sites will have a hundred vaccination units that will administer 40,000 vaccines a week. The other 12 vaccination sites will have 112 vaccination units, administering 42,000 vaccinations weekly.

Education and Science Minister Ilga Suplinska (New Conservative Party) voiced concerns that setting up the vaccination sites in schools could pose a problem for high school graduation exams.

As reported, Latvia also plans to establish nine large vaccination centers in regions, Labsvirs said at the government meeting today.

The centers will be located in Ventspils, Liepaja, Jelgava, Jurmala, Cesis, Valmiera, Rezekne, Jekabpils, Daugavpils.
