RIGA - According to data from the Central Statistical Bureau, 2,906 children were born in Latvia in January-February this year, which was by 0.1 percent or three newborns more when compared to the same month of last year.
In February, 1,304 newborn babies were registered, down 5.8 percent from last February.
At the same time, 4,808 deaths were registered in the country in the first two months of 2020, which was by 11.8 percent or 643 less deaths than in January-February 2019. In February, 2,151 deaths were registered, down 10.8 percent year-on-year.
