VILNIUS - Wizz Air has cancelled part of its flights from Vilnius to Tel Aviv as of the middle of March to early April as demand dropped due to the coronavirus outbreak.

"Wizz Air is changing its schedule of flights to Israel's Tel Aviv due to reduced demand in the wake of the COVID-19 virus outbreak," the company said in a statement.

Under the amended schedule from March 15 to April 2, the company will fly twice a week to the Israeli capital instead of the existing three.

Passengers who have tickets to cancelled flights are recommended to change the flight date or they will be compensated 120 percent of the paid amount to their Wizz Air account.

In late January, the Israeli government banned all planes from China to land in Israel, and then in February it banned all foreigners who have visited Hong Kong, Macao,, Singapore, Thailand and other coronavirus hotspots over the last two weeks to come to the country.

The first coronavirus case was also recorded in Lithuania last week.
