US Embassy gifts to Latvia 27,500 medical isolation suits and protective overalls

RIGA - The US Embassy has donated 27,500 medical isolation suits and protective overalls to Latvia, LETA was informed by the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

US Ambassador to Latvia, John Carwile, has presented the Latvian government with a gift of personal protective equipment - 14,000 medical isolation suits and 13,500 protective overalls.

"Allied support is essential in the context of the global pandemic, and we appreciate it. This gift is another testament to the good relations with one of our closest strategic partners, the United States," said Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development).

The total value of personal protective equipment donated is approximately USD 135,000. Due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, the purchase of such personal protective equipment is a challenge in all countries, the MoD stressed.
