RIGA - Saeima Presidium and Saeima groups unanimously agreed today that deputies who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from Covid-19 will be able to participate in on-site meetings of Saeima if they have a negative Covid-19 test.
Saeima Chairwoman Inara Murniece (National Alliance) explains that this solution has been approved by legal experts and epidemiologists. Issues of the parliament's agenda for which there is no clear explanation in the Rules of the Procedure are considered by Saeima Presidium and Saeima groups in order to hear the opinions of the groups.
Covid-19 testing will ensure a more inclusive approach and enable all MPs to participate in Saeima sittings, said Murniece.
Saeima is planning to resume in-person meetings from September 2.
