PARIS – U.S. President Donald Trump, during a meeting with the Baltic presidents in Washington this past April, confused the Baltic states with the Balkans - and chastised leaders of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania for starting wars 1990s that lead to the breakup of Yugoslavia, French daily Le Monde reported.

The Baltic leaders were reportedly confused by Trump's accusation, and it took them a minute to realize he had confused the Balkans and the Baltics.

Le Monde adds that Trump's mistake is perhaps more surprising given that his wife, Melania, was born in Slovenia, a state that was part of Yugoslavia until 1991.

As reported, Trump's meeting with Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis, Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid and Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite took place at the White House on April 3.
