Tokayev hopes for boost in Kazakhstan-EU partnership after Charles Michel's election as European Council president

NUR-SULTAN - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a congratulatory telegram to Charles Michel following the latter's election as president of the European Council, the Kazakh presidential press service said on Saturday.

"Today, our bilateral relations are given a new impetus. The European Union remains Kazakhstan's key political and trade partner. The expanded partnership and cooperation agreement, as well as the updated EU Strategy on Central Asia usher in a new era of even closer relationships and open broad prospects for sustainable development and prosperity of the region," the telegram, which was published on the presidential website, said.

Tokayev wished Michel success in his activities and expressed confidence in promoting "multifaceted cooperation" between Kazakhstan and the EU.
