From 18 to 26 July, the Tallinn Botanic Garden is hosting Rose Days in the recently renovated rosarium. During peak blooming season, visitors will have the chance to explore over 700 rose varieties, join guided tours, get expert advice at the consultation corner, enjoy music and buy rose plants. Rose Days offer a delightful experience for both rose lovers and anyone who wants to spend a summer day in a blooming botanic garden.
The rose garden (rosarium) at the Tallinn Botanic Garden was first opened in 1963 and reopened after thorough renovation in the summer of 2025. Today it is home to over 700 rose varieties from Estonia and many other countries, including France, Germany, Denmark and Japan. In terms of the amount of varieties, the rose collection is one of the largest in Estonia.
“The rosarium is one of the most important collections at the Tallinn Botanic Garden and offers a very diverse overview of the world of roses,” said rosarium curator Arnet Poola. “It displays both well-known older varieties and newer ones and offers the chance to learn about different forms of roses and how to grow them.”
Roses have been beloved ornamental plants for centuries and today, there are over 50,000 rose varieties cultivated all over the world – ranging from delicate miniature roses to tall climbing and park roses.
As part of Rose Days, guided tours will be led by rosarium curator Arnet Poola and Botanic Garden specialist Tiia Jaanus. On weekends, plant protection specialist Pille Hermann will provide advice at the consultation corner, titled “Who’s harming my rose?”.
Musical entertainment will be provided on July 18 by trumpet and guitar duo Allan Järve and Teet Raik and on July 25 by guitarist and composer Robert Jürjendal.
Rose plants will be sold every day of the Rose Days by well-known Estonian rose growers Rein Joost and the Roosoja Farm.

Guided tour participants will gather at the rosarium bridge and have to register in advance. All activities in the Rose Days programme are open to visitors with a regular Botanic Garden ticket.
The entrance fee includes access to all Rose Days events. The Tallinn Botanic Garden is open daily from 10:00–19:00, the Palm House from 11:00–19:00.
Tallinn Botanic Garden, established in 1961, is a scientific, educational, and cultural institution dedicated to the conservation and promotion of plant diversity. It is situated on a 40-hectare area next to the Pirita River Valley. In total, around 8500 plant species grow here in open air and in greenhouses.
