TALLINN – Sweden notified Estonia under the Convention on Environmental Impact Assessment in a Transboundary Context that it had concluded the procedure for 13 offshore wind farm projects.
The Swedish government decided on November 4 to refuse to grant activity permits to 13 offshore wind farm projects and return the submitted applications. The proceedings were terminated because the Swedish defense forces assessed that the construction of offshore wind farms would be contrary to Sweden's national defense interests.
Estonia has previously notified Sweden that it wishes to participate in the transboundary environmental impact assessment procedures for four offshore wind farms.
