State Security Service calls on Russian nationals in Latvia to inform about mobilization summons from Russia

RIGA - Taking into account the mobilization announced in Russia, the State Security Service (VDD) calls on Russian nationals staying in Latvia to immediately inform the service if they receive a summons for conscription into the Russian army, LETA was informed by the VDD.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin's announcement, the mobilization summons will involve reserve soldiers of the Russian armed forces and all those who have served in the Russian army in the aggressive war started by Russia in Ukraine.

Russia is mobilizing additional forces to continue committing crimes against humanity and peace and war crimes against the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The VDD reminds that according to the Criminal Law, citizens of Latvia, including dual citizens, non-citizens and foreigners who have a permanent residence permit in Latvia, face criminal liability for serving in the Russian armed forces and participating in the war against Ukraine and its residents.

Similarly, according to the Citizenship Law, Latvian citizenship can be revoked for the mentioned criminal offenses.
