SIA Agro-Kaķenieki, one of the largest crop farming and dairy farming companies in the Dobele Municipality, has received EUR 4 million in financing from Signet Bank to support the company’s further development and strengthen its operations.
SIA Agro-Kaķenieki began operations in 1998 and is currently one of the largest agricultural enterprises in the Zemgale region. Based in Kaķenieki, Annenieki Parish, Dobele Municipality, the company specializes in dairy farming and crop production. Nearly all of its milk production is exported to Lithuania, while its crop production is sold on the Latvian market. Over the years, the company has consistently invested in modernizing its farm and improving production efficiency. Its investments have included the construction and renovation of cattle barns, the construction of a grain dryer and silage storage infrastructure, as well as improvements to the herd through the introduction of high-yield Holstein dairy cows.
“The development of SIA Agro-Kaķenieki has always been driven by our belief that competitive agriculture requires continuous improvement and investment in the future. In recent years, we have systematically developed the farm by investing both in the modernization of our production infrastructure and in improving the quality of our herd. This financing will enable us to continue implementing our long-term development plans, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain our competitiveness within the industry. We greatly value our cooperation with Signet Bank and its willingness to support our continued growth,” says Vasilijs Pravdivecs, Member of the Management Board at SIA Agro-Kaķenieki.
“Agriculture is one of the fundamental sectors of the Latvian economy, with significant export and growth potential. This is also reflected in export growth: in 2025, the export value of the product category comprising milk and dairy products, eggs, and honey increased by 26%, or EUR 135 million. The sector’s competitiveness will increasingly depend on companies’ ability to invest in modernization, productivity, and more efficient production processes. SIA Agro-Kaķenieki is a strong example of a company that has consistently developed its operations over the long term, creating a solid foundation for future growth. It is important for us to finance Latvian companies like this and provide capital to support competitive industries focused on exports and long-term development,” says Ineta Done, Member of the Management Board at Signet Bank.
