Signet Bank, for the third year in a row, continues educational initiative on capital market financing opportunities for entrepreneurs — the 'Capital Market Academy'

  • 2025-05-06

Latvia’s leading investment bank, Signet Bank, has launched the third annual “Capital Market Academy”, a free educational initiative aimed at equipping Latvian entrepreneurs with both theoretical and practical knowledge on how to raise financing through capital market instruments — bonds and shares. With the growing relevance of the capital market in Latvia’s economy and in the development of local businesses, this Academy has become an important platform for entrepreneurs to learn about alternative financing options and how to take advantage of the stock exchange to grow their business.

Over the past five years, more than 50 Latvian companies have raised approximately €1 billion through bond and share issues — a clear demonstration that the capital market offers a viable and strategic funding pathway for local businesses. The Capital Market Academy makes this route more accessible — offering clear, practical guidance with a long-term perspective.

“The development of the capital market in Latvia is unthinkable without knowledge, confidence, and the courage to think strategically. We are pleased that the Capital Market Academy has become a respected initiative among entrepreneurs, with a growing audience every year. Our aim is not only to encourage entrepreneurs to think more ambitiously, but also to provide specific tools, experience stories and expert insights to make the capital market a strategic choice for local entrepreneurs and businesses and to establish it as an essential part of sustainable entrepreneurship in Latvia”, says Roberts Idelsons, CEO of Signet Bank.

"Capital Market Academy” offers a free, one-day training program where industry professionals share both theoretical and practical knowledge on how to prepare for fundraising and succeed in the capital market. Participants are also inspired by the experiences of Latvian entrepreneurs who have already successfully taken advantage of the capital market to finance their development.

Since the start of the project in 2023, nine academies have been implemented in Rīga and in the regions - Liepāja, Valmiera, Cēsis - and more than 200 entrepreneurs have attended the Academy. Of these, according to a survey conducted by Signet Bank, 37% wanted to learn about the real experiences of entrepreneurs, 35% about the possibilities of issuing shares and 28% about bonds as a form of financing.

The nearest free Academy is on May 14 in Riga. More information, program, application here: https://signetbank.com/signet-bank-kapitala-tirgus-akademija/
