RIGA - Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics has emphasized Latvia's advantages in the development of artificial intelligence and communication technologies, Martins Dregeris, the president's spokesman, told LETA.
From September 23 to 26, the president held bilateral meetings with leaders of 13 countries at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
During the meetings, the president discussed bilateral relations, cooperation in international organizations, support for Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, as well as support for Latvia's candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the period 2026-2027.
The president paid particular attention to deepening economic cooperation, highlighting Latvia's potential in the development of artificial intelligence and communication technologies. At the same time, Rinkevics confirmed Latvia's support for active action to tackle the effects of climate change.
In addition, during the UN General Assembly, the President of Latvia, together with the President of Estonia Alar Karis and the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, met with the President of Poland Andrzej Duda to discuss regional security and support for Ukraine. The presidents agreed on the need to continue to support Ukraine until its victory over the aggressor.
