RIGA - The public must consistently comply with the epidemiological safety requirements set by the government, President Egils Levits emphasized at a press conference on Wednesday after the meeting with Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity).
The president acknowledged that the "second wave" of the Covid-19 pandemic had begun in full swing and that, in Levits' view, the safety measures imposed by the government were absolutely necessary. "We must all strive to adhere to them consistently," the president stressed.
At the same time, Levits drew attention to the fact that in the interests of public safety, it would be important to know the next steps in the implementation of safety measures in case the situation with the spread of the virus in Latvia changes.
"The Ministry of Health has already come up with a plan, but it could be improved. We need to know what will happen under different scenarios so that we can better plan our lives," Levits explained.
