Prosecutor's office asked to bring charges against official for offering bribe in exchange of bogus Covid-19 vaccination

RIGA - The State Police has asked the prosecutor's office to bring charges against an official for offering a bribe to employees of the vaccination center in exchange of bogus vaccination against Covid-19.

The State Police reminded that on July 21 a signal was received about a man offering a bribe to employees of a vaccination center. A man born in 1974 was detained later. State Police chief Armands Ruks reported in August, confirming that the detained man is an official. Ruks did not disclose the name of the public institution.

As reported, since August, the State Police has also initiated a number of new criminal proceedings for possible bogus vaccination and bribery of medical professionals to obtain vaccination certificates. One criminal procedure is being investigated by the Corruption Prevention Bureau (KNAB).

The State Police reported on Thursday that a group of four persons, including one medic, in suspicion on fraud with Covid-19 vaccination in a medical institution in Riga.
