RIGA - Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) has "full confidence" that Health Minister Daniels Pavluts (For Development/For) and the Health Ministry will ensure the necessary vaccination capacity for mass immunization against Covid-19.

Talking to the press after the weekly coalition meeting on Monday the prime minister stressed the importance of vaccination, indicating that "this is out way out of the crisis".

The vaccination process is not flawless and it is necessary to make it more flexible, the prime minister said. Since breaks in vaccine deliveries are possible in the future, it is necessary to make sure that the vaccination process can be resumed without a delay once the vaccine doses are supplied.

The prime minister pointed out that Latvia has until April 1 to get its vaccination capacity ready for mass inoculations. "It appears that there is still a long way to go, but I have full confidence in Pavluts and the Health Ministry that they will carry through with their job," Karins said.
