Pabriks is confident that Defense Ministry and the armed forces will become stronger under Murniece's leadership

RIGA - Outgoing defense minister Artis Pabriks (Development/For) is confident that under the leadership of new Defense Minister Inara Murniece (National Alliance), the Defense Ministry and the armed forces will become stronger.

After the Saeima vote on the new government, a ceremony of defense ministers took place by Oskars Kalpaks' monument at Esplanade park.

Pabriks said at the ceremony that the defense sector has always proved that there is continuation and growth, therefore the Defense Ministry is the leading ministry in Latvia.

He said that he has no doubts that growth and development of the armed forces will continue under the new leadership.

Pabriks thanked all defense sector employees for support provided to him during his time in the office.

Pabriks has been the defense minister since January 23, 2019.
