Opportunity to establish new political parties for participation in 14th Saeima elections has concluded

RIGA - There is one year left until the 14th Saeima elections, thus the possibility to establish new political parties for participation in them has ended.

As Laura Zaharova, a representative of the Central Election Commission (CVK), informed LETA, the 14th Saeima elections will take place on October 1, 2022, and 100 members of parliament will be elected for the next four years.

Candidate lists may be submitted by parties established not later than one year before the elections and having at least 500 members. If the list of candidates is submitted by an association of parties, the parties included in it must also be established not later than one year before the elections and the association must have a total of at least 500 members.

Submission of candidate lists for MPs in the Saeima elections takes place from the 80th to the 60th day before election day, which for the 14th Saeima elections be from July 13 to August 2 of next year.
