RIGA - Due to the state of emergency declared in the country, the number of passengers on regional buses has fallen significantly in recent days due to the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, and as of Thursday, March 19, the number of bus departures will be reduced, the Road Transport Administration informed LETA.

The decision to close certain bus departures will be made on the basis of data provided by carriers on the number of passengers carried since the state of emergency. On certain bus routes, the number of departures will be reduced by up to half.

No decision has yet been taken to reduce the number of passenger train departures and current data on the number of passengers carried on trains are still being analyzed.

In addition, the administration encourages passengers to purchase their ticket online, at the bus station or by paying with a bank card on the bus, wherever possible.
