RIGA - The global spread of Covid-19 is still ongoing, so people should seriously weigh the necessity to travel to foreign countries, Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins (New Unity) said today at a news conference.
After the weekly meeting with coalition partners, Karins told journalists that two trends are currently being observed in the Covid-19 context.
"The pleasing trend is that in Latvia, the situation with Covid-19 is very well controlled. Unfortunately, in several other countries the virus keeps raging and infections are on the rise," the prime minister said.
Urging people to stay vigilant, Karins said that in the given circumstances, people should seriously assess whether to take the opportunity to make holiday trips to foreign countries.
According to latest statistics, Covid-19 has claimed the lives of more than 504,000 in the world and the number of Covid-19 cases in the world passed 10 million last Sunday.
