TALLINN - The auction of used trolleybuses organized by the City of Tallinn's public transport operator TLT ended in success, with the Moldovan company Chisinau Municipal Enterprise "Regia Transport Electric" declared the winning bidder.

The company plans to use the trolleybuses in Moldova's public transport system. It is an environmentally friendly solution, where old vehicles will be recycled, helping to prolong the useful life of existing trolleybuses.

"We are pleased that our trolleybuses are finding a new purpose. This is a great example of the principles of the circular economy, where vehicles that are no longer used find new applications elsewhere. We thank all those involved and wish the Moldovan company success in providing public transport services in their country," said Andrei Novikov, board member of TLT.

TLT is set to acquire more environmentally friendly gas-powered buses next year, whereas in 2026, modern trolleybuses that are capable of operating autonomously for significant periods of time are expected to start operating in the Estonian capital.
