Memorandum of understanding on establishment of military headquarters North in Adazi to be signed by Latvia, Denmark, Estonia

RIGA – The government today decided to authorize Defense Minister Artis Pabriks (For Development/For) to sign a memorandum of understanding on establishment of the Multinational Division Headquarters North.

The memorandum will be signed by the Latvian, Danish and Estonian Defense Ministries.

The headquarters will be an international military formation in which the participating countries – Latvia, Estonia and Denmark – will take the role of the framework nations, while the headquarters will be open for participation of other allies as well.

The goal of the headquarters North will be to strengthen collective deterrence and defense, and ensure a NATO command element in the Baltic region.
