Lithuanian president calls meeting of State Defense Council over undisclosed matters

VILNIUS – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda is on Wednesday calling a meeting of the country's State Defense Council. But the matters to be discussed at the meeting are not disclosed.

"The issues are classified, therefore, the agenda is not disclosed," Antanas Bubnelis, spokesman for the president, told BNS Lithuania.

Under the Constitution, the State Defense Council considers and coordinates key state defense matters. It includes the president, prime minister, speaker of the Seimas, minister of national defense and the chief of defense. Sometimes the president also invites other officials.
