VILNIUS – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte on Friday congratulated Keir Starmer, leader of the UK Labor Party, on his election victory, expressing hope for continued support for Ukraine and close bilateral cooperation.

"Congratulations Keir Starmer on your electoral victory. I look forward to working together on strengthening transatlantic security, supporting Ukraine and further enhancing Lithuania-UK bilateral ties. The best of luck in serving the people of the United Kingdom!" Nauseda posted on the X social platform.

"Congratulations, Keir Starmer, with the UK general election victory. Looking forward to further strengthening bonds of friendship and close cooperation between our countries, as we continue to stand together for our shared democratic values, rules-based international order and to help Ukraine achieve victory," Simonyte posted on the same platform.

Starmer is set to become Britain's next prime minister after the main opposition Labor Party won Thursday's general election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.
