VILNIUS – Over the past five days, Lithuania has recorded the biggest drop in new coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, according to the latest review of the government's data.
The number of cases has been going down in 54 municipalities for the past seven days, with five or fewer cases reported every day.
"The decrease in those cases is seen in Lithuania amid the ongoing dominance of the Alpha B.1.1.7 variant, and the situation might change rapidly due to the spread of the Delta (B.1.617.2) variant we have not detected during sequencing," the report states.
