The Latvian Security Police has increased its efforts to stop any provocations at public gatherings planned in Riga for Wednesday, March 16.
March 16 is the the unofficial date for remembering the Latvia Legionnaires; Latvian soldiers who served in the Latvian Waffen SS Legion and fought alongside Nazi Germany in World War II.
Security Police representative, Liga Petersone, said that intelligence obtained by the police suggests that the risk of provocations at the March 16 events has remained unchanged for several years.
