Latvian Security Police has received information about possible vote buying for upcoming Saeima elections

RIGA – The Latvian Security Police has already received information about possible illegal hindrance of exercising the right to freely elect members of the parliament, the Security Police reported.

The Security Police is currently probing this information.

The Security Police also said that it has no information about direct and systematic attempts of foreign countries to influence the outcome of the elections.

The Security Police has launched intense work to timely identify and prevent possible risk factors for free and democratic elections.

The Security Police also calls on voters to report on cases when there are promises to pay money or ensure other material and non-material benefits for particular votes or free voting is being influenced in any other ways.

As reported, general elections will take place in Latvia on October 6.
