RIGA - Latvian fish production could eventually begin being exported to Brazil after the completion of the necessary certification to Brazil, MP Didzis Smits, president of the Union of Latvian Fish Processing Industry, told LETA.
"The good news is that the responsible Brazilian institution is finally coming to Latvia for an inspection and the Brazilian market we have been waiting for will soon open up to us. We are halfway there," said Smits.
At the same time, he refrained from explaining why, after several years, the responsible Brazilian institution has finally agreed to conduct an inspection in Latvia, but this is very good news for the fishing industry as it could open up export opportunities not only in Brazil but also throughout South America.
