In early August, Kristjan Jarvi released an album entirely of his compositions, Nordic Escapes. We sat down in front of our own computer cameras, he in the beautiful countryside of Estonia and I in the Catskills of New York State with birdsongs on both sides competing for attention, to discuss the path, the process that led him to these compositions. For Kristjan the album is autobiographical. Since he moved back to Estonia he began experimenting with tonal, vibrational music and the album serves as a connection to the natural world.
