RIGA - Jurmala as a resort town on the Baltic Sea coastline has business potential, President Edgars Rinkevics emphasized during his working visit to Jurmala on Thursday.

The President's adviser Martins Dregeris informed LETA that at the beginning of his visit, the President Latvia met with the leadership of the Jurmala City Council and visited Jurmala State Gymnasium, where he met with teachers and students of the school.

Rinkevics noted that the Jurmala State Gymnasium promotes the joy of learning through creativity and thoughtful use of technology. He said that the pupils of the school are warm and curious. Rinkevics emphasized that through active participation, young people build a sense of belonging to their school and municipality, so that they and their fellow residents can lead an interesting and comfortable living environment.

During his visit to Jurmala, the President also met with tourism entrepreneurs at the Jurmala Central Library and together with representatives of the Jurmala municipality visited the café Annas Maja to discuss the development of the Kemeri Region.

"Jurmala is still one of the largest resort towns on the Baltic Sea coast. This would not have been possible without the hospitality and tourism industry, with whom it was a special pleasure to meet with today," Rinkevics said.

During his visit to the city, the President also got acquainted with the work of the Jurmala Municipal Police, Jurmala Hospital, the Jurmala Cultural and Environment Design Center and the Jaunkemeri Rehabilitation Center.
